data rate nrz

Hello to everybody,

I need use one optical transceiver to make one communication between 2 points situed at 12km of distance.

The comunication is RS422 at 400kbps or less. Looking for information about the optical transceivers, I see that appears one paramenter: Data Rate (NRZ) at 622Mb/s. What does? It means that I need to continuously transmit?
These will comunicate correctly at 1200 baud?

Thanks!

Hi,
Data Rate (NRZ) This is a Non Return to Zero encoded data.
at 622Mb/s
622Mb/s = 622 000 000 baud
So the communication at 1200 baud is possible.

For 12 Km you must check whether repeater are needed or not.

Thanks master_picengineer,

for 12km in singlemode is not a problem :)
If the Output is NRZ, I need ue one differential amplifier for obtain the data in TTL or CMOS?

Thanks!
