india fpga development kit rupee

Hi all.
I am looking for a low cost devlopment board for Xilinx FPGAs in India. I am planning to buy the 'Spartan 3E Starter Kit' board but not having credit card at the moment. :|

Can I get it from sources other than Avnet or Nu Horizons ? Also does anyone know what extra expenditures/taxes might be incurred or how much the board costs in INR ? My budget is max Rs 12k ($220 approx.).

While looking for a locally made development board, I came across this board by Emblitz: **broken link removed**
Are there other boards available in India like this one?

Any help will be appreciated.

Thanks in advance,
Abhijit

fpga board vendors in india

hi abhijitk85, u can try altera FPGA dev board as well...

Cyclone II FPGA Starter Development Kit ($150)
https://www.altera.com/products/devkits/altera/kit-cyc2-2C20N.html

Altera's Development and Education Board ($269)
https://www.altera.com/education/univ/materials/boards/unv-de2-board.html

the educational board is more powerful but i think it exceed your budget a little bit...

i think tht includes delivery fees as well...

never try xilinx before, always altera product only... so can't start a fight on how to compare them (haha ok don't start)

dam*, free advertisement to altera again... :)

fpga boards + pune

Hi Abhijit,

What kind of applications you wish to try on the development board. You what something in Ruppes then try out with www.mechatronics.com, Pune.

Added after 4 minutes:

Emblitz board should be ok, but then you will have to develop boards for other peripherals you interface. Nowadays it is difficult to do any wire wrap stuff.
Spartan 100k gates IC is a big enough IC and many things can be done on it.

emblitz fpga

Thank you all, for your replies.

@pankaj
I intend to develop advanced applications like protocol stacks and co processors.

The link you gave led me to some american company. I found the indian company after some googling. :). They have a nice board here:

Featurewise it appears to be on par with the Starter Kit and way ahead of Emblitz. I am awaiting their response before making a decision. Thanks for your help.

de2 board in india

Hello Shraddha,

As far as I know Avnet doesn't deals in only dollars and not rupees. This can be a problem for an individual developer.
Otherwise no doubt the original boards from Xilinx are of very good quality.
I have not seen good quality from Indian manufacturers.

With regards
Pankaj
