Nab,
High Pass, Low Pass, Bandpass, Bandstop filters can all be implemented as FIRs. FIRs have the advantage that they can be implemented as linear phase filters, although not all FIRs have the linear phase property. Search for articles using "Parks-McClellan", "Windowing" as keywords, for implementation details.

hi,
FIr is non recursive filter.
if you need linear phase then you can use FIR Filter, ther are stable.but they require large memory

FIR meanz Finite Impulse Response Filter.
if u really can compromise on filter coefficents then go ahead n use FIR filters as they r more stable than IIR but it will increase ur programming complexity...
