I want to drive the stepper motor through parallel port..
can i use the ic
will it be able to provide sufficient current to drive the stepper motor..???
or i have to use something else...

if it can't then plzz specify which IC do i use...!!

thanx in advance:D

Yes, it will be sufficient as it has got darlington drivers. Just search for the plethora of circuits based on ULN2003/ULN2803. Good luck.

Yeah you can use ULN2003... but it will depend upon your stepper motor...if your motor is big then you might need a good power drive circuit...

hi. the paralle port is very limited as a current source. It you overload it, you will damage your motherboard. try using an isolation circuit to prevent loading. The ULN is good motor driver but you have to ensure proper isolation. Interfacing problem is a common in this kind of setup. better check the data sheets for the parallel port and your design.

Hi

You can use optocoupler for coupling it is safe to parallel port and you may also use 74245 driver as an extra driver for Parallel port

For a high torque motor(13 kg cm) with 1 Amp per phase current and 8.6 volts do i still have to use ULN2003 ?????

will TIP122 do????

why don't you use L298 it is a dual bridge driver. It can be use normal stepper motors which have One common and 4 other for the coils (can't remember the name for this kind of stepper)Or one with have drive with 2 H-bridge

*L298 can handle up to 3A

GOOD LUCK

if u will use power MOSFET to drive ur stepper motor, then no need to worry about current consumptions and torque. try it. IRF 540. see data sheets also.
