Hello!

I am building moving message display using ATTiny2313, MIC5821 shiftregisters & 5x7 matrixes. Im gonna use shiftregisters to control both, rows & columns and they are going to be in the same "string" so they can be controlled by one data & clock output. I've been reading through Tiny's datasheets and i think USI(universal serial interface) is the thing im gonna use as clock source and data transmitter to registers and that's going to be two-wire setup. Is it possible to overcome the basic IIC protocol and use it like very basic synchronised clock & 1 dataline, with data coming from table or something?

Thank you for answers!
