learning proteus

I just recently got Proteus VSM PIC bundle software. I would like to program in C/C++. I do not know assembly language right now, but I am learning.

In the mean time, I would like to write some programs for PIC microcontrollers in C and simulate them in Proteus VSM. I do not think that Proteus comes with a C compiler.

If I go to "Source" -> "Define Code Generation Tools" and look under the "Tool" drop down menu it lists the different types of compilers. I don't see any for C/C++.

Am I doing this right? Do I need to get a 3rd party compiler and install it? If so, which one should I get? Thanks!

Hi sadams

firstable you must get the compiler, maybe from microchip (h**p://www.htsoft.com/products/PICClite.php), then you can try to simulate in proteus.

Wow, the full version is expensive. Are there other free c compilers that will allow me full function of the PIC family of microcontrollers?

Thanks for the link.

There is a lot of sources of free c/c++ compiler in the internet you just have to find them but this does not mean that i encourage you to use illegal copy. But for a beginer with not much resources I'm willing to help you. Just e-mail me at space_abyss@yahoo.com.

Don't worry. This is for business use, so I couldn't use illegal software even if I wanted to. I will send you an email.

Hopefully I can learn assembly soon and then I won't even need to worry about it.

Thank you!
