Hello!!Does anyone knows which analysis is right in order to measure IMD3(3rd order intermodulation distortion) at a current mode circuit using Virtuoso Cadence?

Re: Cadence help!!!

You have to use either PSS in combination with Pac or completely PSS depending on your circuit. If you have exact time period for your circuit I prefer the later only because of the high accuracy of the results.

Re: Cadence help!!!

Thanks a lot!! And something else,i don't know if psin from analoglib is the right source for my current mode circuit.Do you suggest something else? For example i can use isin with some other parameters (power)?

Re: Cadence help!!!

I can try...but atleast I need to know the circuit topology atleast block diagram level and nodes where you want to measure the results.

I suppose that depends on your circuit topology.

You might consider posting all or a portion of your circuit, then, I will have better idea ...

Re: Cadence help!!!

Ok. I have a current-mode bandpass filter. So for the tran,AC analyses i have used isin as source with 1Mhz freq. In order to measure IMD3 i need two frequencies very close, for example 1Mhz and 1.1Mhz. I hope i helped you to understand what circuit i have.Don't care how is this exactly, the important (i believe) is that is a current mode filter. And it will help to give me some help on what to do after pss analysis. THANKS!

Re: Cadence help!!!

You check the Vsin source correctly in analogLib. It has option for two frequencies simulataneously. Probably isin source should also be having that which I am not sure.

Then about PSS analysis please go through the documetation. That is the best way to understand as for each circuit you have to decide the configuration correctly. A bit tricky but gives good results. But as far as I expect PSS analysis is with two sin waves should be sufficient. You open the Direct plot form and then choose PSS analysis and you will find IM3 option there. Click on that rest you can decide depending on the options available there.

Hope it helps you.
