Is this expression true:
"A practical notch filter is designed with IIR filter."
Why?

notch filter

You can have a notch filter with a FIR as well/

Re: notch filter

soheyl,
At the risk of stating a broad generality; an IIR filter will require fewer multiply-accumulate aperations than an FIR filter of equivalent performance. An easy way to get a high performance notch filter is to transform an analog filter notch filter using the bi-linear z transform.

notch filter

as a notch is used to remove a single frequency component from a signal it is not expected to have very good ch's hence i think IIR is enough

Re: notch filter

What is different between Notching and bandstop filter types in FDATOOLS in matlab?
