Hi All,

I am an analog engineer, but being pulled in to help in a mixed-sig chip. Hoping the digital gurus here can lend me a hand.

Am wondering how much difference is there between the SPEF generated by an APR tool like First Encounter versus a true RC extraction tool like Star RCXT.

I know common sense tells me that a task specific tool would no doubt give me better extraction values, but what about the SPEF generated by APR ? Is it also good enough to do a proper STA?

Yes, normally the RC extraction tool can give you better extraction values, and the SPEF generated by APR tool is more and more closed to RC extraction tools.

STAR RCXT generated SPEF will be more accurate compared to APR generated SPEF.

The extraction algorithm used by STAR RCXT generates better result......

This is my understanding when i did a comparison with SPEF's generated by both RCXT & APR tools.
