Need good programmer for 89S53.

This one is quite simple and includes the AT89S53 ..

All what you need is access to the parallel port, 4MHz crystal, 74HCT541 buffer, 1 PNP transistor and a few resistors ..

It's Polish. However it's excellant and supports 89Sxx and AVR.

If AT89S53 was programmed before with lock bits set will I be able to program it again using ISP programmer?

Yes you may erase and re-programme the device as many times as you like even if its lock bits are set. However you cannot read its content if its locked.

h**p://www.amwaw.edu.pl/~adybkows/elka/ispprog.html is nice. I tried it myself with 89S52 and 89S8253 running at Vdd=3.3V.

I have made a DIY PCB layout that you may use to make a ISP programmer yourself either by strip wires or chemical etching. See attached.
