help regardin voice activated robot

hi..
my final yr project is voice control of household devices..my guide says it ud be impossible to show the demo n hardware..so as a alternative i'm tryin to build a voice controlled robot to prove that it can also be applied to other devices..can anyone help me out with this..

use VB for this and parallel port to control the robot.

Microsoft speech to text software recognizes the sound and gives corresponding instruction to the parallel port
see parallel port tutorials for controlling motor
