using computer microphone as public address

Is this a message-based public address system or audio/video?

audio input through microphone to a pc and outputs audio signals to the speakers..:)

Hi
May be SHOUTcast can be used for this purpose.
It uses MP3 (or AAC [MPEG4-Part3]) format over H T T P with multicast. And there are a lot of client programs are available like Winamp.

A Computer Based Public Address System. we already have LAN connection using optics as backbone, in our university. i wanna try to implement a public address system using a main computer which will take analog signals thru a microphone and outputs an analog audio via speaker. using cat5 utp (RJ45). im planning to use a delphi language with regards to its software,. is C++ applicable also?

anybody can help me with the interfacing between the pc and the loudspeaker??
what else do i need to consider?

to louisnells:
shoutcast? can you please tell me how its gonna be of use to my proposal?
lotsa thanks..:)

Hi
The speach captured by the microphone will converted to MP3 and transmitted via H T T P from the main server as a broadcast. Any computer in the network can use a client like Winamp and listen to the speach. I guess there are already softwares which can do this kind of SHOUTcast broadcast.

coool!:) i will also have to consider not using Realtime, by using shoutcast.. thanks!
umm.. how about, instead of computers, connecting speakers through the network? from it, the speech will be played from the main computer and broadcast it simultaneously.. is it feasible?
thanks louisnells..:)

May be you should think about something like VoIP.

voice over internet protocol? interesting! hmm.. maybe i could follow the mechanics on how it transmits the digital data through the internet, in comparison with my topic which is concerned with LAN only,,. makes sense!:)
um.. do you have an idea how im gonna do the interfacing? between the loudspeaker and the pc?
lotsa thanks...:)
God bless..
