What is finger and Multiplier in Cadence environment ?

Hi,
What is finger and Multiplier in Cadence enviroment, and what is its role.

Finger anf Mult

finger is the number of fingures of a MOS, i.e. u make an active area of width say X and path a number of poly runners called fingers each one makes a MOS
multiplier is a number of MOSTs in parrallel i.e. sources connected to sources and drains connected to drains and gates connected to gates

Thanks for the response. As you have said that by Mult we add MOS in Parallel ,and by fingering you add it in series.
CAn you please tell that why it is done. Whta is the purpose of it.
