understanding meaning of DRC errors

hello all,

i have designed and am laying out a 10 bit ADC in Virtutouso XL.

however, i am experiencing extremely difficult time with DRC verification since the error messages are very cryptic to me.....i use the find marker and explain marker commands, but still i don't understand the difference between...for e.g

figure causing multiple stamped connections and figure having multiple stamped connections.

so........where can i read about the meaning of the various DRC messages?

You have two or more different connections to the substrate.

Use psub2 layer to avoid this kind of error.

You can understand the DRC errors from the design rules file.You can ask your customer for such kind of file.Every drc error with the error number is explained with figures which would help u to understand better

If u r using hercules they provide some pdf files about these drc error explaination.Go through these pdf files.

Check all ur NSUBSTRATE CONTACT are Connected / PSUBSTRAT r connected

thank you all for your comments,

i know that the solution to this particular problem is the substrate contacts, but i want to be able to read about other potential errors......i am using cadence virtuouso XL 5.0.33.......i checked the divaDRC.rul file...no numbers there


???????
 

you can not find this error number in divaDRC.rul.
In geomConnect() section or through geomStamp() command ,the connectivity
is defined.
Diva will check layer's connectivity internally.

I think you should look for the commands in divaReference,and you will understand the means.
