well i want to make LED traffic signal with the help of 555 timer IC ,i know thte function of mutiplexer, decoder etc. i know the logic how to operate the LEDS but as i am a beginner in the field of electronics so i want to ask that i want to give for example 0 1 logic for RED LED and 0 0 logic for green led .So how can i give this input logic to decoder .0 0 or 0 1 or 1 0 or 1 1.

how this binary input can be given .
plz reply

Salam (in farsi = Hello)
1 solution is using decoder 2-4
I think u read about it in some courses like Logic Circuit Design.
u can use decoder 2-4 and give your 2 bit in input and connect the output to your LED properly.

Re: reply required

The 555 timer will generate pulses which can be used to either:

1. Clock a 2-bit binary counter. The counter's output will be applied to the "select" inputs of a 2-to-4 decoder.

2. Clock a shift register with a circulating logic "1."

In both cases one output will drive the red led and another output will drive the green led.

Re: Traffic signal

well can u guys explain it in more detail that how can i connect it to logic 1 or how can i give logic 0 0 or logic 0 1 or 1 1
plz reply
how can i clock a 2 bit binary counter using 555 plz reply

You can use a part such as 74xx161 (e.g., 74HCT161). Connect the 555 output to the 74xx161 clock input.
