PWM definitios help ?

hello
since i am new to PWM, i need someone please explain these datails as much as possible.

1. PWM Time base.
2. PWM resolution.
3. PWM frequancy calculation (how to know the best frequancy to drive my dc motor for example?)
4. what is complmentry PWM ?

links will be appricated as wel

thank you very much

Re: PWM definitios help ?

Could you please do a search for 'PWM' in the forum?

I have given explanations and examples for at least PWM time base and resolution.

BTW, what kind of device are you using to create PWM outputs?

Cheers,

Re: PWM definitios help ?

i am using pic18F4431
i already looked in this forum
maybe i missed something
link will be appricated please
thanks

Re: PWM definitios help ?

Have a look at those threads:

For an example of PWM resolution:

For examples of PWM frequency and duty cycle calculation:

Have you read section 17 of the PIC18 Family Reference Manual?
If not, have a look at this:

Feel free to ask after reading them.

PWM definitios help ?

Time base refers to the Period time That mus be constant.

Resolution refers to digital PWM, or pwm generated by micro procesor, for a 8 bits, 2^8 = 256 steps.

Frequency must bee at least 2 times fmax of the signal to modulate.

PWM starts with ton, and then toff. Complementary PWM is when you start toff and then ton.
