8051 + 7 seg display

hai all
i interfaced the at 89c51 to a system, which will countinously receive data and display it on 8 seven segment displays. at starting the seven segment display will display a welcome message.it will start displaying the incoming datas,when it receives the data from the remote system.this much is fine.now i want to go back to the welcome message when the system does not receives anty external data.
this is not happening.the display strucks on the incoming data.what is the solution for this?

It's only one solution. If you want to be helped give us more information. Like posting your code if it's not a secret. How 89C51 receives data from remote system ? Through serial port ?

as u didn`t send any more info to help u i can tell u that there seems to be a Latch that is still latching ur old data clear it (make Latch enable be off)

use timer interrupt to make the system goto the "welcome" module
