ADC requirement

Hi,all

Anyone can recommend me some references/documentation that talk about the ADC requirement in the digital communication system, like SNR,SFDR,IP3.etc?

Many thanks!:D

Re: ADC requirement

Have you ever tried in Maxim or Analog Devices Website? One thing is that you might need the speed of your digital communication channel for zeroeing on the ADC. So refer to those websites

Re: ADC requirement

thanks a lot!

But maybe I dont describe my question very clearly.
Now I am involved in a project about the front end of a digital TV system. I need to define the specification of the ADC, but I dont have a very clear pictuew yet.....
So it would be very appreciate that anyone can give me a hand:D

i think this book maybe a good choince for u:<cmos data converters for communicatons> by Mikael Gustavsson J. Jacob Wikner and Nianxiong Nick Tan

Re: ADC requirement

You are in luck in that video signals have a well defined minimum and maximum level. You will have to select the number of bits to produce the SNR you need. High quality systems need at least 60 dB. This means a practical converter with at least 12 bits.

What you have to look out for is the analog circuits driving the converter. Ringing and overshoot will produce extra lines in the picture parallel to the transition region between dark and light spots. Your eye will detect this immediately.

Distortion is not that critical as it is in audio systems. Your eye-brain signal processing system is not irritated by harmonic distortion like your ear is in music.

There are specialized converters that are aimed at the video market.

thanks a lot, this book is good. But in this book, the only concern is the SNR.
But I read some ADC specification that used in some existed DTV system. It also talk about the SFDR and IP3.......
I am a little confused about how to define other requirements besides the SNR.

ADC requirement

you can download some paper about these ADC's design. perhaps they are not in detail.
