In the case, PIC16F84A to 16 pins LCD 16x2 interfacing, Does the 3th pin of LCD connect to ground or not. Please, anyone can help me..??. I would like if there is example of that's schematic.

Re: PIC to LCD interface

which lcd type do you have?

Re: PIC to LCD interface

VEE pin is for contrast adjust.

Re: PIC to LCD interface

You want an example schematic? search google for 'PIC LCD' :)

Assuming you are using the HD44780 or equivelent LCD module....

VEE is indeed the contrast adjust, while most people tend to connect this to the wiper of a variable resistor, (each lug VCC and GND) I always end up having the pot very nearly at GND. But I wouldn't connect it directly to GND, your contrast would go the other way, everything dark. So, either add a pot, or 2-resistor in a voltage divider with something like a 10:1 ratio (0.5v at VEE). The value isn't really important, try 100K/10K, you can go alot lower (keeping the ratio at 10:1) but then you'll start shunting significant current and drain your battery faster.

My two cents.

Re: PIC to LCD interface

If you use HD44780, Pin 3 is used for contrast control. If you ground it, only the contrast is fixed. But the actual practice is to connect it through a potential divider (POT).
