Why do so few offtheshelf inductors have dots?

thanks, yes coilcraft and TDK are the only ones i know that show it, and even they dont show it on all their chokes

Huh, I wasn't aware the dot was actually relevant to the winding configuration and EMC. Probably doesn't matter so much for molded inductors. Also not going to matter for windings with a single layer, which probably includes a lot of the IHLP parts. Still something good to keep in mind in the future.
