Why do so few offtheshelf inductors have dots?

many companies do not know or care about the "hot" side of the choke, i.e. that part that normally goes to the inner part of the wdg ...

thanks, yes coilcraft and TDK are the only ones i know that show it, and even they dont show it on all their chokes
 

Huh, I wasn't aware the dot was actually relevant to the winding configuration and EMC. Probably doesn't matter so much for molded inductors. Also not going to matter for windings with a single layer, which probably includes a lot of the IHLP parts. Still something good to keep in mind in the future.
