what is the correct definition of demodulation?
I know that it is the reverse process of modulation.other than this.

communication

Modulation: YOu take an input like a binary input for example. When you modulate it, you convert the binary bit stream to a waveform. When you demodulate the received waveform, you convert it back to a bitstream.

Re: communication

Modulation means, "Modify a signal", demodulation means "Detect the modifications".

Re: communication

consider a carier

c(t)=Asin(wt+Φ)

to modulate a data signal d(t) using this carrier you would use this data signal to modify either one or more of the following:

amplitude A as in Amplitude modulation
freqeny w as in frequncy modulation
or Phase Φ as in phase modulation

in demodulation you would detect the carier and extract d(t) from any of the three (a, w,Φ)

Re: communication

1.Demodulation: The recovery, from a modulated carrier, of a signal having substantially the same characteristics as the original modulating signal.

2.Demodulation - To recover the signal from the carrier. For example, in a radio broadcast using amplitude modulation the audio signal is transmitted as the mean amplitude of a radio-frequency carrier so demodulation requires a circuit which measures the amplitude and filters out the carrier

modulation... baseband rides on carrier frequency
demodulation.. baseband gets off the carrier frequency

communication

Demodulation is the process of recovering the information signals from the carrier, which was employed in order to make the signal robust against propagation problems.
