external clock schematic

I would like to provide an external clock input to a chip on my board through a BNC connector. Now in the schematics, can I just route the signal directly to the pin or any resistors/capacitors in the path I have to add to make it noise free or limit the max current thats coming etc.. ?

You can make it noise free and route the signal directly to pins..

how do i terminate the clock signal ? and how do i make it noise free...i am providing a clock thru a external bnc connector at 20 mhz max.

Put a capacitor between ground and clock input for high freq. noise components. Pay attention for capacitor value to show a big resistance against your clock signal.

won't it act like a bypass capacitor ?
what is clock signal termination and how is that achieved ?
