how does a voltage detector work

How does a voltage detector work (I dunno the function of the hysteresis element in the schematic) as shown in the attached schematic :(

what is its application ?

Thanks a lot

how do voltage detectors work

They may be simple digital input with push-pull output and open-collector output.
Push-pull use to drive some limit load, while open collector you can program load with limit on rise and fall time.

thanks for your reply :)
what is the function of the hystersis element? thanks

how voltage detector works

The function of hyteresis function is to eliminate niose!
If the input voltage varies near Vin(R2/(R1+R2)) the output of
circuit will oscillate! To avoid this hysteresis is used. The circuit
can function as low battary indicator!
Hope this helps

how a voltage detector works

In general for anywhere a system has to be activated based on a threshold voltage,
a comparator with a hysteresis is used, where the hysteresis ensures that after
the system gets activated, its de-activation wont be triggered due to noise or
by chance, unless the threshold voltage recovers from the activation threshold
below a certain level.......

This is just to aviod rapid toggling of the system between its activation and
de-activation states......

how does a voltage tester work

The is a typically voltage detector with hysteretic comparator. Some ppl may call it low voltage detector as it usually try to detect the dropping voltage of VIN. The voltage detect is depended on resistor ratio of two resistors. If both are equal, then one of the comparator input is VDD/2. Voltage reference basically is a bandgap reference fixed at 1.25V. If in normal case, VDD/2 > 1.25V, then VOUT is L (assume resistve input is connected to +-ve terminal). Once VIN drops and less than 1.25, VOUT becomes H indicating VIN has dropped. This is most of the time used in battery voltage detection.

how it works voltage detector

the basic rule of opamp.
