Hi

I am upgrading my system and using a workstation now with Dual 6-core processor. Do I need a new license to run HFSS? How do I take utmost advantage of this system and reduce simulation time?

Urgent assistance required. Thank you. :)

As far as I know you'll need a license.
You should contact Ansys for this.

I thought you could do the following setting and work with it?

Open HFSS

Click on --> tools/options/hfss_options

Then click on SOLVER and on number of processors, put the number of CORES that you have.

ex: if you have one processor with 2 cores put 2
if you have one processor with 4 cores ( quad core ) put 4
if you have TWO processors with dual core Technology than put 4.

It should work fine and speed up the system. A different license is only needed if we have more than one machine running on it.

Won't this work? I have ordered the system and haven't got it yet... so I am not able to check it at the moment.

Yes this will work in certain aspects to speed up the simulations, but if you really want to see a difference you would need to get an HPC licences from Ansys.
