Dear @baraka42,

Do you have schematics or service manual for Compaq Presario 800 notebook?
My 10+yrs old notebook isn't starting up. When power switch is pressed the power led glows and nothing happens thereafter. When I opened that I've found the 4pin LCD inverter cable and with few minutes of hacking with multimeter I could enable the backlight by shorting pin1+pin2 of the lcd inverter and white screen comes. LCD inverter works on 5V and the AC adapter gives 19.5V so I think power conversion circuit sill works, but since there is no heating in processor or ram and the prcessor fan spins for a fraction of second and stops so I guess some problem in power distribution line...
A service manual or schematic will be helpful for me to troubleshoot the old win98se player....
