hello guys !!
i would like to make a simple non-cost pcb exposure box , will this kind of lamp be enough ??
instead of using(Ballast , starters ,...etc) looks complicated
800px-Fluorescent_Lamp.jpg

i think this is 15W lamp .
thanks !

I think that will work. But UV lamp is better.

thanks for reply
more details plz , have u experienced it before ?
what bugs or problem will be facing if i use it ?
thanks !!

You should aim for UV rather than visible light and to give an even amount of light over the PCB. The lamp you show will give some UV but is predominantly white and the light source area is fairly small. White light WILL work with sensitized PCB but much the exposure time will be much longer and also there is risk of heat from the lamp changing the PCB chemistry. The best solution by far is to use two or more UV strip lights, they give better and more even light output and the small amount of heat they produce is also spread evenly over the whole board.

Hello DR.boy,

you can do it.

Long time ago I have built a box of wood with a glass plate of an old scanner. I put 4 fluorescent lamps with 8 W inside. So I get the same light across the glass plate.

For making very good PCBs use UV lamps, because the photoresist is sensitive to UV.

Regards
