Hi all, How do i calculate the finite ground plane for patch antenna and for an array?
Thank for your help.-

hi,pls more details,if u want to simulate with finite ground(dimensions arbitrary) u can use HFSS,FIDELITY (FDTD),CST packages, for ur element and simulate ur s par.
regards

Finite ground for fix Antenna

if you want to calculate the size of the ground plane, the ground plane should be large the patch about 1/4 wavelength to obtain the better front and back ratio.

What's the differance of radiation pattern differance between antenna with a finite groudplane and with a infinite groudplane?

(What's the differance of radiation pattern differance between antenna with a finite groudplane and with a infinite groudplane?)
,the differ that the finite ground change the radiation pattern at the fix antenna edges(like lamda/4 over finite and infinite ground plane .balanis book),ifinite ground be more ideal.

Assign Perfect E boundary condition,go to menu in HFSS there you will find "HFSS" click on it you will see "boundaries" click on it again, a sub menu appears and at the first there's an option "Perfect E" choose it and that's all folk.
Good work
