Yes, you are correct. The standard firmware does not support DTMF detection or MMS commands, so you need to upload a version that does. It is posted above

hi chipseller
i am facing a very strange problem with sim900, when connected to gprs and a sms is received it crashes and restarts. if this happen three times then sim900 goes into a state where it does not respond to pwr key and at commands, after crash netlight starts to blink as if there was no sim card present. i have to manually disconnect sim900 supply and reconnect it to make it work again.

this issue is very frustrating as while connected to gprs service provider may send sms advertisement and sim900 will crash and restart.

i have two modules:
SIMCOM_Ltd
SIMCOM_SIM900
Revision:1137B10SIM900M64_ST

SIMCOM_Ltd
SIMCOM_SIM900
Revision:1137B08SIM900M64_ST

both of them have the same issue, any advice is highly appreciated

Try updating the firmware. This may have been a known issue, I don't know. I have attached the latest version and release notes. All the tools and instructions are available in this thread

i updated the module with the firmware you sent but still the problem exists, i also tried with this command: AT+SRSPT=1 but no success

can anyone having evb board confirm this issue, i feel this problem is because of sim900 firmware and not because of any fault in hardware design.
please if anyone having evb board confirm this:
1. connect module to gprs
2. and then send sms to module while connected to gprs
3. confirm if its crashing and resetting or not.

also is there a way to completely reject/disable sms feature?

Do you have access to sim900d firmware with DTMF? Like 1137B08SIM900D64_ST_DTMF_JD_MMS or B09. And could you share it plz?

Hi All the frmware I have access to is already shared in this post. The 1137B08SIM900D64_ST_DTMF_JD_MMS is the only version I have and it is already posted here.

Sorry, but I don't found it. Only 1137B08SIM900M64_ST_DTMF_JD_MMS from post #58 for sim900, but I need 1137B08SIM900D64_ST_DTMF_JD_MMS for sim900d.
 

hi...anybody have mms firmware for 1137B08sim900A32_ST ?
 

As far as I know this firmware will work in the D and is the only one I have access to.

Hi chipseller

Will the 1137B08SIM900M64_ST_DTMF_JD_MMS firmware update work on SIM900B?
I have successfully downloaded this update to my SIM900B but the module doesn't register to the network nor does it respond on hyper terminal.
Earlier i have tester the module it had 1137B08SIM900B32_ST firmware in it.

Hi marc_m

It sounds like it probably doesnt. Reload the original software to restore the module. Here is the latest version I can get.

The same thing happened to me, my unit is completely unresponsive now, is it bricked?

Sim900A is made for eastern asia!

so it just supports operators is easter asia!

One of my friends, set a mail to Sim company and they replied it!

singapor
malaysia
thailand
indonesia
cambodia
vietnam
laos
burma
brunei
philippines
east timor

when we upgrade it, we set our MCC code into sim900A, so we can use it... (I read it in some non-english forums!)

anyway, I could not upgrade it successfuly! so I decided to use Sim900

it works fine... also I used Sim908
