Hi all

This my first post in this awesome forum, Hope i'm welcomed here around :D

I would like to ask who is expert in this field, what do you recommend, PIC or Arduino Microcontrollers and why ?

And I would like to ask if there is any tutorials, video series or anything to learn on these two it would be better :)

Thanks in advance

arduino works on AVR and on the other hand u have pic ,, both have completely different architectures ,, i suggest u start with arduino first because it has an awsum support site ,, with examples and libraries with which u can do lot of things . once u get good with basics u can move onto PIC 16 series maybe first with BASIC stamp programming and then c or assembly as u like .

If you want to learn how to program the Microchip PIC in either Assembly or C Language, then some of the best tutorials available are the following:

**broken link removed**

Each lesson is in PDF format, with the accompanying code in a downloadable zip file, best of all they are free.

Microchip also offers discount to students, last time I checked it was 25% off.

Thanks all for the answers :)

How about some comparisons between PIC and Arduino ?

Hi,

Am sure there are plenty of comments around about the supple differences between the two architectures, but the bottom line is, in the broadest sense they both do much the same thing.

Seems you have not established what you are looking for, perhaps you should tell us a little more about what your aspirations are ?

First, what if any, is the particular area of micro control are you interested in, such as motors /robotics/ sensors / etc etc.

What programming language are your thinking of using, or say have learnt a little of at college - so many to choose from these days.

What about hardware have any thoughts on how much you want to spend.
The UNO is probably one of the cheapest complete starter kits, but will need extras buying for it depending on what you want to develop.
Other more expensive development boards already have things like lcds and extra chips fitted.
