Hello, can anyone reccomend any freeware programs that will allow direct access to the parrallell ports in WinXP?

how to use lpt2: in windows xp

You don't need using any third part program. I suppose you want to program your own code. You could use .NET and consult www.codeproject.com. There you can find out some articles about accessing LPT port with .NET on Windows XP. It's easy indeed.

Really? Without loading a special kernel mode driver? Please show me where it is on that site!

it uses C# sorry, but I think VC++ .NET has the same object. Try MSDN

Maybe I'm missing something, but all I see there is programmers discussing how to use inpout32.dll, a third-party DLL that installs a kernel mode driver. More info:

I have used inpout32.dll. It works, but I prefer PortTalk.

The problem is, windows in generial wants to be able to allow multiple programs access the devices of the computer.. So it doens't allow any devices (natively)to have full raw read/write control over the ports..
