Any good suggestion on compact antennas on a small handheld two way radio for the 68-88 MHz band?
The usual short helical whip has a lousy swr due to lack of proper ground plane.

The easiest is the rubber flex antenna which will have a full wave spiral conductor, but works better only when connected to the Handie where the body will be grounded or connected to negetive. Next you may decide what range you need for communication and if your expectation is less, you may use a non inductive resistor of 50E in place of an antenna where one terninal connects to the live and other to ground.
Cheers
