HFSS- Finite Array Tool Excitation Ports

Anybody knows valid excitation ports for using the finite array tool of HFSS? It gave me an error when I used floquet ports which makes sense. But I can't use wave port either as there are master/slave BC.

    Wireless Power Transfer Simulation

I have seen people have used HFSS for this case. Less common was COMSOL and CST. If you are working in a low frequency region, check out Ansys Maxwell, it's very efficient for WPT simulations if you don't care to use a full wave solver.

HFSS- simulation of one direction periodic strucutres

Imagine there is a 3D unit cell; I want to see if there is any way to simulate S parameters for the case the unit cell is infinitely extended in only one direction is finite in the other direction. Obviously floquet port doesn't work. Inserting only wave ports didn't work because I have...

    HFSS- view material dispersion curves

I have been looking around to see if HFSS shows its Material Library dispersion curves, and haven't been successful so far. HFSS only shows defined materials with parameters at only one measured frequency. But I need to see the material parameters for all frequencies. The worst case is to do...

Exitation of waveguide with master\slave boundaries in HFSS

I have an anisotropic structure where I want to see its response to incident wave at different areas. Therefore I need to use a waveguide. But the problem is that the structure region has master/slave boundaries and then it is not possible to use ports. I am wondering what the options are to...

    HFSS, custom colormap for waves

I believe it is right! As a physicist, my mind is used to solve it in vectors, so dot products of E and X-unit vectors. I guess I have to learn how to use this field calculator then.

    HFSS, custom colormap for waves

Imagine we have set k-vector along Z and E-vector along X! Now by all sorts of plots, either Rainbow or Ramp, the limits is always positive when they have been plotted for Mag_E. So, there is no difference between maximum of magnitude of E vector when it is along +X or -X. But when set in wave...

    HFSS, custom colormap for waves

Hi, Thanks for the comment. The goal is to observe the backward wave in metamaterial structure, so I need to keep the phase term, and Mag_E is the option, so far so good. But after plotting, the only useful colormap style is rainbow, right? But the wave style would be much better in this work...

    HFSS, custom colormap for waves

Hi, Thanks for the reply. Actually, the vector representation is not quit the thing which would be helpful for my work. I am looking into something like this: **broken link removed** which CST and COMSOL have it by default. Any built-in way in HFSS to produce this colormap would make it much...

    HFSS, custom colormap for waves

I have seen COMSOL and CST have a default wave colormap ([-1 0 1]) which makes is much easier to follow field distribution like when looking for wave-vector direction. I was wondering how one can set such a colormap in HFSS; let's say for E-field. One solution can be to normalize the field...

HFSS, simulation of a single SRR to find resonant frequencies

Would you like to upload your file, so everyone can take a look at? For me, just shrinking the region box helped to get rid of this error, but the result was as what we were expecting.

HFSS, simulation of a single SRR to find resonant frequencies

Have you seen Ansoft tutorials for eigen mode? There is a sample of cavity resonances. I upload the one I had, hope it helps.

HFSS, simulation of a single SRR to find resonant frequencies

Not yet, I rather just testified the resonance frequencies by field intensity around the SRR. In your case I saw many topics in the forum though which you might find helpful. I was receiving the error because the region box was fairly large, and when I shrink it to less than a wavelength, the...

HFSS, simulation of a single SRR to find resonant frequencies

It might be the reason. I'll work more on that and when reasonable results I obtained I'd share. Thanks again.

HFSS, simulation of a single SRR to find resonant frequencies

Thank you very much for the reply and help. I tried to use eigenmode but each time I receive this error: "Adaptive solution setup, process hf3d error: No eigenmodes were found. This could be caused by a very lossy or very open structure, or the spectrum of modes may be nearly continuous.. " I...
