if you using pic series then u can us compilers with full fledged mikroE softwares in three 1. using basic language 2. using python 3. using c programme(recomended ) download for the web site mikroC software through search google.com

i am using picl bootloader exatly don't know where is downloaded but with pic bootloader u can find by google search it has advantage of working even in linux dos and windows i think it is zip file by may be name pic16fxx*.zip IF U WANT EXACTLY MAIL ME...

hai u can also use mikroelekronica basic programming software + its tutorials try by google to download above with 'mikroelekronica' as key work in google search
hai , on what project u using not mentioned any how the signals for rom or RAm is same to interface to Up like if ur up is 8085 which is 8 bit is haveing 16bit Address A0 to A15 , so if u want to interface two method 1) IO Mapped IO 2) Memory Mapped IO.

u can use debian linux 3.1 sarge for EDA tools Built in other wise u can go for the image aviable as i remembered i downloaded throgh google search use key word eda tools for linux

if u want to install any tar file by default it will be in /usr/ folder but better always following command u can configure to install in ur directroy so that if u wnat to delete just delete that dir . so try to use follow command
