compilation problem

i have compiled a simple counter to virtex 4 board then i compared between the hw and the sw and the results are not similar.
what can be the problem?

i am new here and thats my first use in this forum so i hope everything is acording the rules.
i need to read and write to shared memory in matlab xilinx.
i am using xilinx shared memory block and i get integer output, how can i convert it back to fixed point...
