the voltage drop in the copper trace of pCB ???

wiregage.exe Which CAD tools have this capability built in? The Sigrity tools have this capability, but USD 60,000.00 is a bit much to pay for this capability. Cadence Allegro doesn't have this capability as far as I know.

Importing Allegro PCB into Mentor Expedition PCB

allegro to expedition translator I need to edit a PCB which was originally done in Allegro, with Mentor Expedition PCB. Does anyone know how to import or convert the Allegro file?

which release version of linux have more future in EDA

I have been able to get the 15.1 version of Allegro/Specctra to work under Fedora (basically just setting the correct environment variables), but I haven't been able to get the Xilinx ISE 6.1 to work. Can anyone tell how to get it to install on Fedora (probably the same as RH9)

detail design information on RFID cards needed

RFID For the 13.56Mhz range, Philips and TI had a partnership a few years ago to make chips. They were mostly based off of the Philips design which was quite good. It was practical to get a 1 meter range from these. A simple reader for short range could be quite simple. These were read/write...

Capacitor selection, dielectric types, footprints on PCB

In general the Y5V are the cheapest, but their capacitance is typically 1/4 off the specificed value if you run them near full voltage. They are also very unstable with temperature and change value with mechanical vibration quite a bit. They also have very high dissipation factor, which, in...

How do you maesure the output from a red led?

There are two measures, the power in watts, or the luminous intensity, that is how bright is seems to the human eye. There are many optical power meters you can get to measure the total power, You have to apply correction factors to determine the luminous intensity.

[SOLVED] ATTiny12 running with internal clock

I have used it, it is a nice processor, but no, the internal clock is not good enough for RS-232 communication. It is a pretty good internal clock, but not that good over time and temperature.

What is the best routing tool ?

I use Sp*ecctra. You have to take the time to describe every net in the .do files, but then it is good for most any type of digital board. This includes things line 32 LVDS differential pairs at 622Mhz, and 2.5Ghz differential pairs. I autoroute virtually the entire board. The only things I do...

underwater sonar system or fish finder design example needed

You can use a flat panckake spiral coil with a thin copper diaphram. Discharge a capacitor (0.1J to 100KJ) capacitor and you will have a nice short half sinusoidal pulse. Use a gated receiver looking for a single pulse return. You can get very good detail. I once made one about 10cm in dia with...

RFID and transponders building - any cheap technology?

Do you want 120Khz, 13.56Mhz or 2.45Ghz transponders? You can probably get some TI or MicroChip tags in small quantities. The TI 13.56Mhz with the 50mm x 100mm coils will work out to about 1 meter. Philips also might be able to help. Singh
