best books on ansoft hfss
ghb,
If you do a lot of work on EM simulations, it might be worth getting the book.
As I said, it explains the practical use of commercial EM simulators, including MoM, FEM, FDTD, a little bit of TLM. Especially excitation and deembedding algorithm is a critical part...
When you assign a waveport which includes two or more conductors, you can pair them for even-odd mode excitation.
I would recommend you to get some examples and slides from Ansoft homepage and try them first.
hfss book
HFSS uses Finite element method.
These are the books that might help you.
If you are looking for a theoretical background - Finite Elements for Electrical Engineers by Peter P. Silvester, Ronald L. Ferrari
If you are looking for practical use of EM tools including HFSS - Microwave...
hfss curved surface
I looked at your model quickly although I could not debug completely.
You might want to spend sometime simplifying your problem though.
(1) I was a little vague about the feeding structure, but do you really need to compute the field INSIDE the long narrow coax? Probably...
What you need is a lumped port.
Draw a narrow rectangle and assign the lumped port.
You can get S parameter that way.
(Ansoft voltage source is different from HP-HFSS's, if that's what you used before. HP-HFSS's voltage source worked as you described.)
