Thanks for the reply and I appreciate the words of caution. As I understand, the parallel port can be used for things like this but the output isn't a steady 5v, hence the diode. Another option is to use a 9v battery as the power source and step that down too. Obviously, I don't want to blow my...
I'm wiring a simple data transfer interface which needs the voltage dropped from around 5-7v to no more than 3.7v. The schematic says I need a diode but which kind? Do they come in sizes, ratings etc?
