[SOLVED] SPI Speed and power usage

In the end, I've decided to split each character up into a "mini" buffer so I write the character to a 8x5 memory buffer, then print this to the screen, the power seems to have dropped (on average) by a couple of uA so not drastic though every saving is worth it, thanks for your help :)

    Buying LCD's without PCB's

Ah I see, after searching Alibaba, most never provide a technical drawing/data sheet though after searching eBay, I found a seller who could provide with an MOQ of 20. Until then, I suppose I'll just have to safely desolder one of the current LCD's! Thanks anyway!

    Buying LCD's without PCB's

Hi, I've recently bought a nice little 128x128 pixel LCD off eBay (**broken link removed**) and I'm wondering if anybody could direct me to where I could buy just the LCD from (without the circuit board). I emailed the seller asking whether they sold just the LCD and they unfortunately don't...

[SOLVED] SPI Speed and power usage

Ah yes, I see! As the character size is 8x5, I'm thinking of dividing the screen into 6 pages so that any time a character is changed, I only have to update 1 row of text (if that makes sense), that seems much more efficient compared to writing the whole frame buffer every time a small change is...

[SOLVED] SPI Speed and power usage

Thats really useful actually, thanks a lot! Apart from having some form of "events list", is there any fast way I can detect a change in the framebuffer? Obviously, I could have a second frame buffer and compare between the two but that means sifting through a 504byte pair of arrays and...

[SOLVED] SPI Speed and power usage

Hi, I'm building a relatively low power circuit using a PCD8544 based LCD (the kinds that are extremely cheap off ebay!). They accept data through SPI at up to 4MHz but what I'm wondering is what would be the best SPI speed to use? I'm sending data over in a "framebuffer" manner...

    Microchip regulators

Of course! I can't believe I didn't think of that. Thanks a lot!

    Microchip regulators

Hi, I'm designing a battery power system and i'm quite interested in using a Microchip TC1185 with a fixed voltage of 3v. What I'm wondering is if the regulator will still provide an output if the input drops below the low dropout voltage + the constant output voltage. By this I mean I'll be...

    Earth detection circuit

I saw that with a quick google search but as the live and neutral won't be involved with the device, I can't quite see that working unfortunately, thanks for the reply though!

    Earth detection circuit

Hi, I've got a STM32F051 Microcontroller and i'm wondering if anybody can give me any potential information on earth detection? I'm hoping to be able to detect whether ESD protection wrist bands are connected to their plug socket or not. Cheers,

    Free spice simulator and CUDA

Hey, Does anyone know of a free spice simulator that takes advantage of cuda? Or that can offer me faster sim speeds than LTSpice, i've tried reducing tolerances etc but large circuits take years! Harris

    Human body capacitance

Thats very true! Though I do generally like to simulate a circuit first before sending off to get PCB's made, I could always breadboard it though. I'm still thinking of ways to use capacitive touch though.

    Human body capacitance

Thank you very much for the reply, they're brilliant articles! One thing I am wondering about simulating human body capacitance is whether I can literally connect a capacitor in series with a 1.5k resistor direct to ground, so simulate a human touching that point?

    Human body capacitance

Hey guys, didn't really know where to put this one! What i'm wondering is how the humans body capacitance changes in different conditions. In many places, i've seen the human body capacitance quoted at around 100pF when floating, how does this change when a human has say shoes on or is on a...

    Polygons and routing

Ah! I didnt know that its nets had to cross, I put a trace through it and it has now filled in. Thanks dude!
