Yeah it is very low bandwidth-efficient coding scheme, but the question is why it is used although it has low bandwidth ?

Since coding rate of 3/4 gives triple data throughput in comparison with a coding rate of 1/4,
why would a coding rate of 1/4 ever be used?:???:
