Can I use an audio transformer as AC voltage sensor

I use 1/4Watt resistors 200Vmax so Pd will not be the problem. What i see is that the HiPot are 1500V, but I admit the specs are difficult to get. 1709573081 There will be hardly any winding to winding voltage. The primary side has only one volt. The question is the primary to secondary HiPot...

Can I use an audio transformer as AC voltage sensor

I do know what I'm doing, but you maybe don't like it.

Can I use an audio transformer as AC voltage sensor

Hi all, I see that the main concern you have mentioned is the isolation voltage between the primary and secondary windings. I was not too worried about that, people die today for may stupid reasons, why should I be more Catholic than the people who kill us like politicians :)......... however...

Can I use an audio transformer as AC voltage sensor

I like that tip crutschow two resistors in series to reduce the voltage between line and neutral and secondary. I take that as a design idea. 1708923312 Hi FvM That is correct it's not the earth it symbolizes level earth in practice the neutral. 1708923663 I got your point on the paired...

Can I use an audio transformer as AC voltage sensor

Thanks Tony for your thoughts on this. So your concerns are possible linearity or distortion of the input reduced input voltage, dust collection in the open transformer, and the Insulation rating. I have seen that insulation ratings are 500Vdc and up till 1500Vdc, but I agree with you that it...

Can I use an audio transformer as AC voltage sensor

You're jumping to conclusions, I may follow the isolation rules. If you call a ball a football, that doesn't mean you can't play and other game with it. You are right, you can't use it for Clay pigeon shooting :)

Can I use an audio transformer as AC voltage sensor

Dear reader, I have a question about using audio transformers as 120Vac 60Hz line voltage sensors. I know how to measure AC line voltages with dedicated AC voltage transformers like the ZMBT101B or the ZMBT107. To me, these transformers are nice but bulky for the small PCB's that I make. So I...

I want to switch solar panels between different systems, how?

Hi D.A.(Tony)Stewar Thanks for responding, I have been looking for these mosfet based SSR's but could not find one. Can you give me a few examples/links to this type of components?

I want to switch solar panels between different systems, how?

Hi betwixt, thanks for your input. Are you trying to tell me the following, let the micro inverters do their work when the grid is up and connect a DC AC inverter to the system that is off during the grid. When the grid is down all currents do down to zero switch when currents are low and then...

Single phase to 3 phases AC converter using only transformers

The way you describe your problem makes it impossible to convert a single phase in to three phases with using only transformers. You can use a VFD inverter to do this. A VFD is a box full of electronics that can convert a single AC line in to a three-phase network.

I want to switch solar panels between different systems, how?

Dear Readers, Inverters are switched off during a blackout and make that you have electricity on your roof while being without it in your home. This may not be as urgent where you live, but in countries like Mexico, blackouts are more common. In such a case, I want to be able to use the...

Volt second imbalance, how it works and what can be done about it.

Yes I was thinking about that too, but I do want to understand this mechanism in better detail. 1697245349 You need to check that because my information is that the capacitors generate the same problem en don't resolve flux walking

Volt second imbalance, how it works and what can be done about it.

Dear reader, I want a better understanding about flux walking in iron core transformers which are connected to a SPWM MOS FET bridge or half bridge. I understand that flux walking occurs in transformers if the number of Volt seconds per half cycle of a SPWM signal is not exactly the values of...

Can you use a BTS7960 43A module as driver for a SPWM transformer inverter

Thanks. yes that capacitor seems normally to be enough. If not a LC filter is needed. The problem of flux walking as a result of the difference in V*dt is known to me and yes come very precise. I have a question about this. If the volt seconds are not equal for both half cycles of the AC, a...

Can you use a BTS7960 43A module as driver for a SPWM transformer inverter

What I understand from others is that the output 120Vac needs a 2.2uF capacitor to smoothen the sine wave. Thanks for your response.
