how is antenna efficiency calculated?

Usually we go for efficiency ,once we know the s parametrs and there by the resonace of the antenna .So ,you know the frequency at which the efficiency is needed and regarding phi and theta ,you can opt for them or not .I guess its better...
All you may need is to change the dielectric constant and loss tangent of the material.I guess a height of 5 mm might be ok for it but you might have to take care when going for the back radiation .[/url]
Aperture coupled antenna is hard to design as the resonant frequency not only depends on the dimensions of the patch but on the slot as well .I have tried IE3D and HFss for this ,but it looks HFSS is more suitable for it.The actual resonant frequeny is the combination of the half wavelength...
