HFSS mesh problem: simulating a big structure (4m) with a tiny component (1mm).

Hi all, I am simulating a monopole antenna on the UAV. The UAV is about 4 [m] by 3 [m]. The monopole is put on the wing of the UAV, monopole is 70 [mm] long with a 1.5 [mm] diameter. Frequency is 1 GHz. When I try to mesh the structure, using the default mesh setting, an error occurred...

[HFSS/CST] scanning plane wave excitation to obtain the phase/magnitude information

All right, no reply... FYI, the problem is solved by using the incident plane wave + wave port/lumped port, after simulation use the field calculator to get the voltage on the lumped port. And from the voltage we can calculate the phase and magnitude information.

[HFSS/CST] scanning plane wave excitation to obtain the phase/magnitude information

Hello Friends! I am trying to simulate the structure in this paper: https://ieeexplore.ieee.org/xpls/abs_all.jsp?arnumber=5765478&tag=1 A quick question, I have two monopole antennas (#1 and #2) and use the plane wave as the excitation. I want to sweep the excitation angle (0-360 deg with 1...

    export CST layout to Altium

Hi, I used the following steps to export the CST structure to Altium. 1. CST export DXF file 2. use CAD open DXF and save as DXF 2000 version (only 2000&2004 version work) 3. use Altium import DXF and generate the gerber files The elements have ring shape. But the problem is that the...

Reflectarray pattern optimization/phase-only synthesis to decrease the side lobe

Hello all, Anyone has experiences on this topic: reflectarray pattern optimization or phase-only synthesis? It is aim to decrease the SLL. I checked some papers, and some people are using Intersection approach, or GA algorithm. I am wondering what's the procedure to do phase-only synthesis on...

    Multilayer Reflectarray Antenna

Dr. Encinar's antenna structure is very complicated and I think he doesn't use the commercial software for the simulations. I dont have experience on multi-layer constructions. I think alignment is important?

horn antenna radiation pattern cos(theta)^q approximation

In reflector antenna, usually we use horn as the feed. It has been checked that the radiation patterns of the horn can be simulated as a function: \[\cos\]^q (\[\theta\]) . The power q has been chosen at each frequency to fit the horn patterns. I already have the radiation gain pattern of one...

[reflectarray antenna]---> cross polarization simulation using HFSS or CST

Thanks, Tallface!!! I used CST for the array simulation, in the [farfields] results, it gives like following: I polted all the abs, theta, phi, left, right data. The gain theta vs gain phi has a x-pol about -50 dB at broadside, but the RHCP gain is toally the same with the LHCP gain. I think...

[reflectarray antenna]---> cross polarization simulation using HFSS or CST

Dear friends, :-D:-D:-D I am still simulating a reflectarray using ring elements. For now I already got the pattern simulation results for the whole reflectarray. I am using rectangular waveguide as the excitation, instead of using feed horn, to simplify the structure. Now my problem is: how...

    reflectarray simulation

Hi amanda thanks for your information. I am curious about the 'parallel phase curve' you mentioned. Does parallel means linear phase curve? Too steep phase curve means a tiny size changes will lead to a big phase change, so it will decease the gain and also the bandwidth. Is my understanding...
