when ya need high performance,lots of operations you may use
DSP but when a low price,low performance and may be some peripherals
are needed your choice is a MCU

FPGA's have more parallel units and do reegular tasks faster such as
image processing but
DSP's are better for tasks that change a lot like signal processing

no doubt that microsoft visual c++ is the best for designs related to system that rub uneder windows..but newly i found out that borland C++ builder is more flexible and programming is more convenient..so try that
and tell me what ya think!
