I think I've answered this same question before but I forget the answer.
I want to confirm it's safe to sink a 5V powered LED through a 3V MCU.
Depending on how the output pins are pulled up or down, I'm concerned about seeing a small reverse leakage current when the output is high (3V) and...
FvM, thanks for the read on this. I'll do some more research on the impact of motor inductance on the respective drive circuit.
But getting back to your comment about PWM motor controllers not having a cap. Let's say assume for the purposes of comparing Option 1 to Option 2 that Option 2 does...
Assume a buck converter, switch opened state and in continuous mode.
I know when the switch opens, the diode forward biases completing the circuit and drawing energy out of the inductor.
But in order for that diode to forward bias, the input side of the inductor needs to swing about 0.5V...
Never pulled apart the theory on this one to have a good answer, but can anyone speak to the advantages of the buck over inductorless PWM?
Option 1:
Buck Converter (Most commonly used in DC-DC step down supplies)
-PWM modulated based on feedback
-Uses dI/dt over inductor for energy conversion...
I have an IO on a microcontroller tied to a transistor that drives a relay. It doesn't seem to be operating properly and I notice if I touch the IO with my finger it goes high or at least high enough to turn the LED on. I am not closing the circuit to anything but simply touching the IO.
Is...
Any resource recommendations i.e. sites or books on how to write a quality electrical hardware specification for outsourced manufacturing? I've done these in the past, but am at a new company and looking for various options and approaches before committing to anything.
Thanks,
-NGM
That looks like the path I'm going down now, found one with a 1.2mOhm path resistance, way more tolerable than a 10mOhm shunt. And 185mV/A. **broken link removed** My scope's best resolution is only 2mV / div, since it's DC, I could use a high precision DMM, but would like to be able to read...
I'm looking to build a USB current measurement circuit that doesn't add any series resistance. Even a 10mOhm shunt is going to create voltage drops that affect my testing more than I'd like.
I'm trying to hit accuracy and precision to within about 5-10mA.
I'm guessing I should be looking at...
I've noticed several methods that seem to enable devices to enter their fast charge mode or signal to the device when they are connected to a dedicated charge port or DCP.
By fast charing I'm thinking more than 0.5A and as much as 2.3A.
I'm trying to understand the difference and pro's and...
I have a DC / DC converter feeding a powered USB port. I want the DC / DC to shutoff when no USB device is connected but turn on when one is.
Any suggestions?
Thanks
Hi Keith,
I may use the ideal diodes elsewhere in my circuit, recently became aware of them. But I'm not sure how you would configure that to work here. Are you suggesting an OR'ing circuit fed by the Input and battery pack? I'm not sure how you'd be able to charge the battery in that case...
I am designing a battery pack with an integrated charger and boost circuit for the output. I need to cut the power to the boost circuit whenever an input voltage is present to prevent pass through.
The following is a simplified block out of my system, suggestions are greatly appreciated on the...
