Mr. Armstrong, z = exp(s) is not correct. A more accurate relationship between, Z and S transforms were given by vahidikh622: Z transform applies to functions that are discrete while S transform works for continues signals.
Probability Question
Main road is right, you can't possibly have more than 100 components fail becuase your system is composed of only 100 components. Thus the probability of less than 100 components failing is 1.
You can also ask yourself this question, what is the probability of more than...
The Discrete Fourier Transform (DFT) is not an integration it is a summation just like the FFT. In fact, the FFT is just a fast way of computing the DFT, from there its name Fast-Fourier Transform.
GPS reflections are usually a problem when trying to determine your position, but I guess reflected GPS does have a useful application. Does anybody know what reflected GPS is used for?
For an N-length signal, the DFT requires N^2 number of computations.
FFT divides the signal into its odd and even components and takes the FT of each; this reduces the number of computations in the FT to 2*(N/2)^2 = (N^2)/2.
If you continue spliting the signal in two you'll effectively reduce...
The transmission of any electromagnetic signal through a medium depends on the dielectric constant and the conductivity of the medium as well as the wavelength of the signal. Wood and sheet rock have dielectric constants that make the material semi-transparent to signals with frequencies in the...
