can someone tell us why usually a defected ground structure (DGS) is modeled as parallel resonant circuit instead of series resonant circuit.

Pls, does someone knows how can we determine the the inductance of the shorted slotline (Ls) and the capacitance of the open microstrip (Coc) ?
Moreover, what about the length for microstrip and slotline. Have we always taken them equal to quater wave length?

In all articles related to DGS technic is written how to determine parameters of equivalent LC circuit exploiting S parameters of existing DGS unit. But i think there no a method till now related to calculation of DGS dimensions for obtaining this s parameters.
