does using OFDM increase the data rate?? OR it's just converting the frequency-selective channel into fat-fading channel.

One reference says that: "we know that the CFO (carrier frequency offset) causes the phase distortion in the OFDM symbol which can be denoted as 2πβn/N where B describes the CFO effect..""
so, any one can explain how this phase distortion (2πβn/N) is obtained?? Plz explain...

This matlab code is about simulating the effect of CFO on the received QPSK constellation.
first, the author used, for generating data:
data(31,1000)=0;
data(32,1:1000)=1*sign(randn(1,1000))+i*sign(randn(1,1000));
data(33,1:1000)=1*sign(randn(1,1000))+i*sign(randn(1,1000))...
