Hello,
If you are not familiar with interfacing to an RF system, try using for example a wireless uart/rs232 RF pair. I think that will work great for your plan (servo control using RF). I am using these: www.usbscope.eu/wireless/uart_link.html

Hello,
The basic RF modules are RFM12 modules. If you are interested, contact me through the email in my profile or the contact form at the website. Yes, I sell around the world! Just have to check shipping costs.

I did something that might be really interesting for you: build a wireless sensor network which supports 4 modules in a 300 meter range. With this system, you would be able to do exactly what you are describing: "measure things...
(ok, thread is dead for some time, I know, but just *HAD* to reply).
I did something similar. Made a sensor network based on RFM12.

Hai,
I have good results with RFM12 modules which use 433 MHz. Upto 300 meters will very well and is not difficult to make yourself (or buy complete working sets, see link in signature)
Greetings Matthijs
Maybe going to 1 level easier is a good solution? I am using RFM12 modules and these are easy to get working (see link in my signature).
Quite some example code around the internet for these modules, you know.
Greetings Matthijs
Hai,
I am using the RFM12 modules (also 433 MHz) and having good results with that (see my link in the signature). My code is based on code fragments I found on the internet.
Would these RFM12 modules be an alternative for you?
Greetings Matthijs
I also have developed code for RFM12 (not B or BP, but should only be a small difference). What I made can be seen when you follow the link in my signature. My project is semi-duplex (hard to get that working) and I have basic modules available that will do the trick for you.
Greetings Matthijs
Hey,
I used RFM12 modules for a simple wireless project. Check the link in my footer to see what is possible. I made a "transparent" wireless uart / rs-232. Just send data on 1 side and read it on the other (and backwards as it is semi-duplex).
Drop me a message when you need more info...
Hello Ami-89,
I just finished a project in which I exactly did what you are planning to do. I used a pic 16F876a to sample some signals and then transmit them to the PC using an RFM12 module.
The "final" result you can check ath the website listed in my footer.
As I developed some code to get...
