Indeed envelope is not constant so final equation for average power should be (R = 50Ω) :
Pavg = Σ (√I² + Q²)²/(2*R*N) = Σ(abs(z))² /(2*R*N) = Σ((I² + Q²)/100)
I am right?
Hi,
Peak power of a signal isn't -36 dBm. Its rather -36dBm/Hz which is power spectral density. First you must define peak power of your signal to properly fit amplifier.

Thank you for reply,
Indeed I want to calculate the power of modulated signal. This is wideband OFDM modulation. So are you suggesting to calculate instantaneous power for each sample, and then sum
and average it?
(∑(I²+Q²)/100)/N, were N is the number of complex samples in one slot
I assumed...
Hi,
Thank you for your reply. But your second suggestion will give different result. I've tried this on 100 random samples in MATLAB. I believe that I understood you correctly, you suggested to calculate power for each sample and then sum all result and divide by N ? Kinda averaging but based...
Hi,
I am struggling with the problem on how to calculate power with given IQ samples. Everyone says different ways of doing it. I need just a value not, the PSD. My algorithm goes as follows:
1) Calculate the sum of absolute values of IQ samples: A = sum(abs(samples[i])) , where samples is the...
Thanks for answer, so as far as I understand, DAC noise depends on applied signal, am I right? But datasheet parameters are measured under specified conditions i.e. when it comes to NSD, input signal is sinusoid at specified frequency usually few dB under full scale. But still, its just kinda...
So you mean that NSD (datasheet parameter) describes only thermal noise? I thought that in terms of DAC it says about quantization noise and internal NF of DAC. Correct me if I am wrong.
Thanks
Hi,
I have to calculate amount of total noise which DAC will contribute to the TX chain. Would be enough to take NSD from datasheet and add 10log(bandwidth)? It's not have to be really accurate. What do you think?
Thanks in advance
Marcin
Hello all,
First of all, I apologize for evey mistake or blunder I make within this post but honestly its my very first time here ;-)
Problem that I experience it kind of hard to explain but I will try my best. My employer wants to make a simulation when few transmitters with the same waveform...
