hi,
I simulated the simple micraostrip trace on PCB with hfss 9.2
PCB :10mm X 5mm thickness:0.175mm
Trace: 0.2mm/0.3mm/0.4mm
fomula calculation Trace impedance respective: 60.82/49.56/42.01 ohm,corresponding to 50 ohm system VWSR should be: 1.22 /1.009/ 1.19
but hfss simulation VWSR is...
Hi,
I simulated the microstrip of PCB with Hfss and SI8000,but the result is different.
PCB board high 0.175mm, FR4(Er=4.5), 50ohm trace width is 0.28mm with Polar SI8000 and 0.2mm with Hfss.
why?
thanks
HFss Directiviy problem
Hi,
Who can tell me how the Hfss caculate directivity?
why the directivity is so little(<1) in simulated microstrip antenna?
the directivity always should be more than 1,it's true?
thanks.
Hi,asdfaaa
Thanks for you replay,but the "bad matching + low Radiation Efficiency -> higher gain" lets me faint. Could you try the attchment model?
another question, why Gain <-1dB for the antenna of Radiation Efficiency 0.96 and VSWR 1.6. where is the energy ?

Hi,
I have send a topic about antenna Directivity/Gain.Then i tried to look for the cause,another problem occur.
Case1: frequcy = 2GHz, Caculation result is
VSWR=1.71
Antenna Gain = -1.882dB
Antenna Efficiency =0.96121
Case2: frequcy = 3GHz, Caculation result is
VSWR=2.63...
Hi, everyone
As I known, idea sphere pattern's Directivity is 0dB. if pattern isn't sphere, the max directivity should be more than 0dB. but i simulated a simple microstrip antenna,show the efficiency >0.9,directivity<0dB.Why?
see :

Hi, everyone
I simulated a very simple antenna in attachment. As I known, idea sphere pattern's Directivity is 0dB. if pattern isn't sphere, the max directivity should be more than 0dB.
who can explain the caculated result or point the error.
thanks in adv!
